An Easy Way To Record Sound (Audacity)

The easiest way to record any kind of sound directly from your computer is by using some free audio software which you can download from internetAfter testing many different versions of a different audio softwares which are available online I come to the conclusion that the best program for simple audio recording and editing is AudacityThis interesting program also have and many other cool functions that I will describe more detailed in some another tutorial but for now you can follow the instructions which I made for simple sound recording :

IMPORTANT : Before start of this tutorial you should install Audacity software by downloading it from internet or on some different way. All important informations as well as software download link you can find on Audacity official website : http://audacityteam.org

Step 1 : Open Audacity and on the menu at the top of the program chose Edit > Preferences... When Preferences window is open, click on first Devices card and set your sound hardware (in my case it is Realtek) or microphone (depending on whether you want to record live audio from your computer or your vocal in case that you have some microphone connected with your PC). You can also choose whether your sound will be recorded in Stereo or Mono (my advice for you is to chose Stereo for basic recording). Usually Devices settings are good by default but it is always important to check which device is turned on for recording.

Step 2 : Now when your sound hardware is chosen you are almost ready to start with sound recording but before that always check recording volume. In my case default recording volume of 0.5 was to high so I needed to set it lower on 0.3.

Step 3 : For audio recording first start some song or sound on your PC (or in case that you have microphone and you already selected microphone device in Preferences, start talking for sound check) and then when you are ready press the Record button. You can simply brake recording with Stop button and then with Play button you can check your recorded shot.

Step 4 : Finally to export recorded material on the menu at the top of the program chose File > Export Audio... Select the format in which you want your file to be exported (like .wav, .mp3, .ogg or any other which you prefer) and then when you are done with selection click on Save buttonNow your recorded audio file should be at the location where you save it. Simple isn't it?
